I'm out the door on Tuesday morning at 6:17 am for a good 60 kilometer road bicycle ride. During the ride I run into another rider who I've spoken with before and I slow down adn we have a nice chat for a couple miles before he heads for home and I continue on. After a shower at home I go to the grocery store for supplies and trim the roses - bringing fresh new blooms into the house to liven up the living room. I watch the Noto2 race from France and enjoy the action in the race as the riders start on slick tires on a damp and quickly drying track. The rest of the day is a blur with some playoff ice hockey games and a little bit of obfuscation coding. And late in the evening my friend wants some more analysis done for his business so I put that together very quickly and send him the plots and numbers.
I start Wednesday with a mountain bicycle ride at 6:19 am. I've adjusted the front derailleur buts its still making noises. And I notice that the entire derailleur seems to have twisted on the seat tube and its not aligned with the chain. But I finish the ride to the oldyacht club and back again and then re-adjust and align the front derailleur. A short ride up and down the street confirms that everything should be ready for the next ride. After the bike maintenance I mow the front yard and grab a shower. Today the motorcycle starts right up and I get some gasoline and go for a ride to keep the lubricants moving around. Typically on these rides I'll get up to 95 or 100 mph for short bursts but today I don't think I get over 90 mph. After the ride I work a short bit on the obfuscation coding but I'm just not into it. And the day passes with ice hockey playoff games. But late at night I have some good ideas and have the obfuscation code solved.
I have shortened sleep on Wednesday night into Thursday and the legs aren't present, so I do not go out cycling on Thursday morning. Instead I go for an hour walk - stopping once to talk with a man walking his dog about all sorts of interesting topics. Back at home I trim the roses and bring new blooms into the house. After a shower I slowly start to implement the obfuscation code into the Smart Cities apps that I've been working on. And just after noon I get to the library to return two books and pick up three more.
I'm out of bed at 5:00 am on Friday to try and finish off a Smart Cities app. I work away and work away and work away. Before I know it, it is after 3pm. I get out and have a very good session with the weights. IU think maybe the lifting sessions will start to get better now. After a shower I grab some food and watch some ice hockey. And then I start coding on the Smart Cities app. I take another break for a Zoom meeting with my friend to talk over the Matlab and Python analysis that I did for him. And when we finish the Zoom meeting, I work away again on the Smart Cities app. It's approaching 9pm and I've been working on the app for realistically twelve hours. And I quit when all of the mySQL conversion and hashing and logic is in place. A productive geek day!
I sleep horribly on Friday night into Saturday morning as I keep thinking about things to be accomplished and I take some time to write the list down as well as to read a book. Despite the lack of sleep over the last two nights, I get out the door at 6:15am for a good road bicycle ride. A bit tentative at the start, I start cranking along nicely and finish with a good, strong 40 mile ride. At home I immediately "safety-up" and start trimming the side of a tree where the branches are getting close or intermingling with my Internet cable line. And then trim down half of the fallen branches for disposal - the other half may have to wait for next week. After a shower I get out to the grocery store for supplies. I start in watching qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix and there are tingles up and down my spine - I love F1! Its an unpredicatble qualifying and Sunday's race should be fun. I'm starting to lag a bit from lack of sleep and take some time to watch the PGA golf championship, watch IndyCar qualifying, and do some cleanup on the Smart Cities apps. And late in the day I get out and trim the roses and bring more new blooms into the house.
Sunday starts with a mountain bicycle ride to the old yacht club and back to home. The legs and entire organism are tired today from lousy sleep over the last few days, but its still good to ride. I work on a couple small analyses for my friend and send them off before watching the F1 race from Monte Carlo. A couple of shockers upset the order though the eventual podium sitters are not unexpected. I lose the rest of the day to cleaning the kitchen floor and ice hockey games and a bit of Netflix.
I sleep well on Sunday night (finally) and get out for an hour long walk. I just do a few things around the house until Person M_Fl comes to visit. We're both vaccinated and this is the first real social visit with anyone that I've had in more than a year.
Tuesday is a blah day. I get up and trim roses and bring a few tree branches down, but I don't really trim them for disposal. And where does the day go? There are no requests for analytical or algorithm or logic thought today, so I don't have much to show for the day.
I start Wednesday with a good mountain bicycle ride to the old yacht club and back home. It's already a bit windy in the morning so I have a couple segments of hard work (against the wind) and a couple segments of easy work (with the wind). At home I pull gardening equipment out of the garage to edge and mow the lawn and then sweep up afterwards. After mowing the lawn I run the lawnmower over the downed tree branches to extract the leaves off the branches for disposal and to reduce the overall volume of disposal. It feels good to cool down with a shower and then read the markets and news. I'm not ready for any serious work and have no deadlines, so I don't do any coding today.
I start Thursday with another mountain bicycle ride to the old yacht club and back top home. During today's ride I run into my third cousin, Kyle, and so we have a little chat. Kyle decided to go walking today instead of cycling because its a bit windy. Back at home I trim the roses and get cleaned up. After a short breather I start in cleaning the insides of all of the windows in the house. Friday is reserved for going around the house with soap and a sponge and glass cleaner and towels and a hose for the outsides of all of the windows. And I take another day off of serious coding and just relax with the ice hockey playoffs and some Netflix.
On Friday I have a productive day. I start very early and finish up some analysis for my friends and then clean up the analysis code and put together a user's manual for it. When the sun is up I slowly start washing the outsides of the windows. I do a few windows and then go back inside and code and then do a ffew more and then code. Just after noon I get in a good session with the weights and clean the last of the windows. They look bright and clean and shiny and will be good for six months. After a shower I relax a bit and start a couple of financial simulations that I run monthly.
I'm out the door at 6:15 am on Saturday morning for a good road bicycle ride. The legs and body feels good even if I'm mentally not involved in this ride. When I get to my turn around point on the San Gabriel river trail I puck up a few riders and I pull them back down the river trail into a nasty little headwind for five miles until I exit the trail to go home. I grab a quick shower and do some grocery shopping and watch qualifying for the MotoGP/2/3 and classes from Mugello, Italy. Sunday should be a fun race! And then the day passes by without incident.
I'm tired but I get out the door at 6:15 am for a ride up the Los ANgeles river trail to meet up with Derrick. We turn around and ride down to the aquarium and look for the entrance to the Pier J bicycle trail that just opened. But we're not sure where it is. And then we head for home. AT home I grab a shower and watch the Indy 500 - deciding to save MotoGP/2/3 for later days after hearing the news that 19 year old Moto3 rider Jason Dupasquier has passed away after his nasty last minute qualifying crash. As I watched the crash yesterday it looked bad as his lifeless body just slid and rolled along the track like a bag of sand. Late in the afternoon the retired school teacher comes over for more Mac computer help. We play with all sorts of settings and find we can't really permanently change the default font size for Apple mail. Subsequencty google searches show that what we did sometimes works and sometimes doesn't work (unless you completely re-install the operating system).
I'm out of bed at 6:05 am on Monday, Memorial Day, to work away on Smart Cities websites. The encryption has been lagging behind so I just start banging away on getting it to work. Of course, various pages of encryption documentation give conflicting stories of how to proceed. But its noon by the time that I've figured out the inconsistencies in the database encryption - really? The encryption commands require quotes around field names and the decryption fields don't? Really? So by early afternoon I've got the majority figured out and I just have to figure out the final implementation. And, certainly, the key management is more critical than anything else. Near 2pm I finally watch the MotoGP race from Sunday that I've delayed watching. I can't bear to watch the dedications to the fallen Moto3 rider Jason Dupasquier. But I struggle through it with tears in my eyes. The MotoGP race is very fun but muted because of the circumstances. Nonetheless, I love this sport! And then I just kinda be vegetable and watch some ice hockey because I know I have an hour or two of work to finalize the encryption and the Smart Cities apps.
