December Continues

Tuesday night is the usual ResourceScout meeting where we discuss "final" negotiations and terms and conditions with Los Angeles County. We're being jerked around, so I tell my partners, "There's a point coming up soon where we just have to walk away from this deal". And they agree with me.

On Thursday night I'm lifting weights. Just as I finish setting the bar down from deadlifts I hear and feel a huge pop. It is the ligament in my back being restrained, resprained, or retorn. I'm down on the floor on my hands and knees from the pain. It takes me a few minutes to be able to get up, but I make it up into the house to start abusing the Aleve and other methods to recovery.

I have to roll out of bed on Friday morning, but I make it to the chiropractor and he helps me out some with some manipulation and extra stretching exercises for the entire region.

Person N_V and I hit three different clubs on Friday night. The walking and standing and moving is good for the back as inactivity makes it hurt more. I run into a few acquaintances at the clubs, but the crowd is down for the Christmas season. Person N_V's friend, Person B_U, actually asks for my phone number (later) as all of us have a laugh at that. Person J_VKPI and his friend are present and we have a brief, but good, conversation. And Person J_VKPI shows me his new tattoo. To which I respond, "You spent money on the tattoo instead of paying your mobile phone bill?" (I ask this because his mobile phone was disconnected a day or so earlier!) Person N_V and I eventually leave and get home a bit after 2 am on Saturday morning.

Ruby, Joseph, Person N_V, and I meet up at the Bonaventure Hotel on downtown Los Angeles for a Saturday morning breakfast meeting with Los Angeles county counsel and others who requested the meeting. (Person N_V being dragged into the meeting as an outside observer.) Over the $20 per person breakfast we discuss ways to work together. We don't know where this will lead.

Afterwards Person N_V and I drive to a widescreen theatre and see "Lord of the Rings". Um....well...Person N_V sees "Lord of the Rings" as I sleep through almost the entire movie! After the movie Person N_V says that he didn't enjoy the movie as much as if I had watched it. And I respond with a number of affirmatively-answered questions: "Did you like the movie? Did you enjoy the visual effects? Did you like the storyline? Did you identify with certain characters? Did you like the music?" And I follow this with, "So you had a great time - that's the purpose of seeing the movie." And Person N_V agrees and is now a bit less mad at me.

On Saturday night Person N_V goes out with friends as I hang out at home. Phone calls from Person N_V, Person J_VKPI, Person Daniel (down visiting from San Francisco), and Person T* are handled and/or deferred.

On Sunday I get out for a good, if wet, bicycle ride followed by mowing the lawn. Person N_V and I get out Christmas shopping at Toys R' Us as well as a mall in the vicinity. Later Person N_V and I take a nap before we have a simple dinner and call an end to another weekend.
