Serious Septmeber

The second serious Septmeber week continues. I get out for good runs before work each morning and I have constructive sessions with the weights each afternoon (after work). At the conclusion of the Thursday morning run I stop the chronograph and cool down. A few minutes into the cool down I look at the watch and see that I have stopped the elapsed time of the run at 33:33.3. Should I play a lot of 3's in an upcoming lottery?

On Friday I go home a bit early to do the laundry and to lift weights - it's a great session to end the week. After shopping for some new ice hockey equipment and talking with the Subaru dealer near home, I spend a quiet evening at home. Person J_VKPI wants to go out tonight, but I need the sleep. Person HRR asks me for some help with his calculus homework and we try to work through a problem together before he gives up. I'm in bed at 10:30 pm.

On Saturday I'm up early and crank out the near 40 mile ride over the Whittier Narrows dam and back home. The time of the ride is pretty good. After reloading the carbs while watching qualifying for the Italian Grand Prix, I perform a few errands at home. I'm relaxing when I see that Person K_K is calling. Person K_K and I have not spoke since he dumped my late in July. I do not answer the phone. But I happen to look out the living room window and see Person K_K driving up. I go into my bedroom and do not answer the door. Instead I call Person F_F and have the final version of "the talk" where I use words to the effect of "You're a nice person but you are not the one for me". Person F_F takes it well and I am still distracted as to why Person K_K is coming over. I get out inline skating and now am able to deal with Person K_K. I call him and it turns out that he just wanted to return a book that he has finally finished reading. We have a pleasant conversation and we both let it go at that.

I have told Person J_VKPI that I will not go out on this Saturday night because I want to rest before my first ice hockey game of the new season on Sunday. He continues to express his disappointment. I'm in bed before 10 pm on Saturday night. In the middle of the night I wake up and look at the clock - it is 2:08 am on Sunday. And I think that I would just be leaving a club to head for home now if I had gone out. I turn over unto my right side and go back to sleep.

By 8:08 am on Sunday morning I have run 4 miles and cycled 16 (the Aquarium ride). I sit down to watch the Italian Grand Prix with plenty of spicy soup, bread, cheese, and diet Coke. It's a fairly close race though the outcome isn't what I desired. I work on some Excel macros and on a Six Sigma project throughout the Sunday as I rest for the first ice hockey game of the season.

The game is a close one until the last part of the third period when we suffer a collapse. We end up losing the game, 5-2. But it was a close game with hard skating and no significant penalties. I'm in bed before 10pm to end the weekend.
