Thanksgiving

I'm out of bet at 5:45am on Tuesday and see that my web scraping, at least for this go-round, is finished. I get in a 75 minuted run/walk and feel good throughout. I grab a warm shower and get dressed to see a prosthodontist in Long Beach about replacement teeth. I already like this organization because I could fill out all of my forms on a website eahead of time, and both the technican and dentist are nice and willing to both listen to me about my history and to explain pitfalls/advantages of the process. We have an appointment scheduled for about a month from now to do serious planning for implanting teeth (subject to a few other doctors test results) and I push the doctor to finish before the end of the year so that I can go travel in January. He says it might be later in January and I can accept this. At home, with some wine in hand, I start to process the tons of data that I've scraped over the last few days. I take my time and make some mistakes and remind myself to build-in some some safety checks since the process is fairly complicated and convoluted. It's 1:30 pm before I finally take a break and watch the MotoGP race from Malaysia. Finally a rider nicknamed "the Beast" gets a win this year after two nasty crashes throughout the year that have prevent him from riding well.

I think maybe I've been busted because my overnight data scraper stops in the middle and the computer appears to have rebooted. Or perhaps there was the shortest electricity spike. I'll try more scraping in a day ro so. But I have plenty of data already. I get out on the mountain bicycle to the old yacht club today bevause there is the possibility f rain and I;ve just wiped down the road bicycle. But the rain holds off. There's a converted effort with rider stops and rider slowdowns by the city t clean up the homeless people from the Ls Angeles river bike trail, so my time is slower than usual. After trimming roses I weedwack again just because I want to see how these new batteries are doing. After a shower I do a lot of post-porcessing of the scraped data. It takes me almost all day to get to a point where I'm within 95% of having post-scraped data cleaned and ready to feed into my integrated Artificial Intelligence program and see what happens. The rain does come in the afternoon and now I'm upset because I just washed nd waxed the World Rally Car. Very late in the day I turn on my post-scraping process against many years and weeks of data to see what's going to happen. It takes about 30 minutes to reform all of the data to be one step away from going into the articifial intelligence process.

There's rain and wet pavement left over from Wednesday, as expected, so there is no cycling or run/walking today. At mid-morning I get in a good session with the weights and the strength is slowly coming back. Very slowly. I work for quite a while getting the 2024 calendar ready for another website. All of that typical end-of-year web work will only need minor edits before going live. I pick up Person M_FL at Rosa Parks and the first thing he does when we get home is he takes a nap. He worked the night shift and woke up at 5am to travel. I take the time to clean datasets, get more data, and make the code tighter. Later we eat Japanese food for dinner (which I cannot finish and bring home with me).

I take the road bicycle out for the extended loop ride and feel good for most of the ride but lose energy as I go. I just didn't eat enough yesterday for the ride. At home I trim the roses and watch FP2 for F1 from Las Vegas and explain to Person M_FL sme of the nuances. Person M_FL goes to work out so I take the time to watch FP2 for both MotoGP and Moto2 from Qatar. Later I meet Person M_FL at the Thai restaurant but he has ordered from the wrong one. So we drive to the right one and pickup up our food and take it home. We find a Netflix movie to watch while eating. And I again cannot finish it all so now that's being saved.

There's wet pavement and rain on Sunday morning, so I get out for a 75 minute run/walk. I struggle just a bit today maybe because I haven't eaten as much as I should have. As I'm run/walking another walker points out a beautiful rainbow behind me which I would have missed. IU sppend most of the day on the integrated Artificial Intelligence code but mostly its scraping and cleaning more data. When Person M_FL heads to the gym to work out I do more coding. Later Person M_FL comes home and packs in order to stay with another friend in the area. I then take his absent time to watch Moto3/2/GP qualifying from Qatar (after catching F1 qualifying from Las Vegas as Person M_FL slept late.) This laptop is about 5 years old but just has been contunuously slowing down. Today it took me almost an hour to get it to boot and then it decided to update itself and runs even slower. And later as I try to watch the MotoGP Q2 for the pole, the sound from this website quit working through one browser. The sound works on this browser and other websites and it works on another browser and all websites. It's time for a new laptop.

On Sunday I have a strong mountain bicycle ride to the old yacht club and back to home where I chase down other riders and push on the way home against a headwind up the Los Angeles river trail. After a shower I watch an F1 from Las Vegas which has its moments. But it seems to be ANOTHER USA F1 event where the celebrities present matter more than the race. I catch some of the football games and mix that in with continued checking and development of the integrated Artificial Intelligence process. I have some good ideas for the prdictive part that I continue to work on.

Since I pushed the ride on Sunday, Monday's recovery ride isn't going to happen. As per usual practice, I've laid out my cycling kit the night before a ride. But today it just sits there while I do other things and finally put it away. I'm still out of bed at 5:45 to work on the iAI process. I take a break to have a good mid-morning workout with the weights where I've bumped the weights up a trivial amount and I'm still so weak that I can really feel it. Just as I'm cleaning the hardwood floors I get this idea about clustering - independent of the Gaussian Mixture clusters - and I write some code, clean a part of the hardwood floors, and iterate on this until its time to watch the Moto3 race. A fun race with pushing and shoving throughout the race. I finish cleaning the hardwood floors and the kitchen floor and go back to the clustering process. The bookeeping for the clustering process is a bear and by late in the afternoon I'm no closer to getting it implemented than when I thought about it. I take a break to finally eat some lunch near 3pm and don't go back to the clustering - let's let it simmer overnight.

On Tuesday I just ride the mountain bicycle to the old yacht club and back to home. There's a nasty headwind that picks up on the way north on the Los Angeles river trail so I get in a good workout. After a quick, warming shower, I get buy gasoline, get to Target for supplies, and then to the supermarket for supplies - I don't want to go anywhere near a grocery store or any store on the day before Thanksgiving. During lunch I watch the MotoGP race from Qatar. Today I want to finish up the predictive capability of my integrated Artificial Intelligence process as well as another clustering algorithm, but it isn't in me today. And I'm not sure how the day passes.

I hit the snooze button twice but still get out the door for run/walking well before 6:30 am. Today I go a bit longer on the pavement and it ends up at 85 minutes of run/walk - the longest on the pavement. At home I trim the roses, then mow and trim the front and back yards. After a warm shower I read the news and markets and still cannot "find my way" back into the final step of the integrated Artificial Intelligence so I catch up on recordings I've made in the last few weeks. The integrated Artificial Intelligene effort will have to wait until Friday. Then I can try it out and both qualify and quantify the predictrive capability over the weekend. As I've been doing lately, I listen to some of the new programs as I lay flat on the hardwood floor as it helps my upper back and neck stretch out and get rid of a "hunched over" position that I don't want to grow into.

I'm awake early and have to wait for a bit of light before a road bicycle ride up towards the El Monte dam. I stop about two miles short of the dam and turn back. I feel strong throughout and get in about 75 kilometers and probably should have gone to the dam, but that will be for Saturday. After a shower I watch the recorded Detroit Lions Thanksgiving Day game and am disappointed that the secondary gives up passes in every critical situation and Jared Goff will never be more than a "maybe make the playoff" quarterback. For late lunch I have my traditional Thanksgiving day spaghetti with my Mm's tomato-based recipe with wine for sauce. Later I check some of the websites and see that they have been tampered with, so I restore them. The tampering was probably just to obtain contacts, nothing more. So I take the "tampering scripts" and put in a mess of gobble-de-gook for array subscripts and I re-order what looks like a 512 bit or 1024 bit key. Let's mess with the temperers. And I watch a bit of the other football games and just let the legs rcover. I get down on the floor again and stretch the neck and upper back. Between noon and 7pm I've had a number of helpings of spaghetti and though its probably the most that I've eaten in a year, I don't feel bloated. And I hope the carbs will be getting me ready for a long Saturday ride.

Friday after Thanksgiving and the Saturday and Sunday weekend days are fairly slow. I lift weights one day and go cycling the other two. I clean up the area between the front of the house and the juniper bushes where weeds and wild grass can grow. This weekend I both celebrate and get depressed over the last weekend for both F1 and MotoGP/2/3 for the year. Ninety eight days of waiting until the next race. Though radiation ended three moneht sgao, I've still lost another 25 pounds post radiation and people do not recognize me. On all three days of the weekend I work on the integrated Artificial Intelligence process and become frustrated since I must kept messing something uo since the results with clustering are not as I want them to be. On Saturday late afternoon I'm laying on the hardwood floor to stretch out my upper back and neck muscles when it comes to me, "Why am I referencing and indexing and re-referencing and re-indexing all of these data frames when I have the desired quantities in a separate array?" So I get up off the floor and though I make some typo-detailed mistakes, I fix them and have the clustering algorithm working. The resuls are not as precise as I expected them or hoped them to be - but did I expect tightly clustered data when it comes to predicting human behavior? After I get the clustering working I relax and try to finish a Korean Netflix series before moving on to the next shows.

Sundat presents a chilly, but strong ride on the mountain bicycle. Up the Los ANgeles river trail there's a decent headwind and another rider keeps passing me, so I finally push push push and drop the rider until I get to my Del Amo exit. At home I want to trim roses but I can't find my rose trimmers. I used them for a small branch on Friday on the sideyward but I cannot find them anyway, These rose trimmers were barely satisfactory, so after I've exhausted all of my possibilities I decide to buy new ones a bit later today on Amazon. Today I rake up some leaves in corners and near the edge of the fences where the mower won't reach and then I get a well-derserved warm shower. I start the relaxing part of the day with the MotoGP Tissot Sprintbut this is no relaxation as I cheer for my favored (not favorite) rider. With the football games on in the background, I do a complete birth-to-death run of the integrated Articial Intellgience program and find some inaccuracies that I fix and by 2:06pm it runs completely through with no errors. This is part of my configuration control of the software routines. I think of a way to better select the number of hidden neurons in each layer of the deep learnng neural network and I plan that effort but don't get to very much of it today. Instead I watch some more football and the world championship decider for the MotoGP race from Valencia, Spain.

I start Monday with a good 84 minute run/walk. Today I've increased the run-to-walk ratio a bit without being too aggressive. After a warming shower I spend many hours implementing a relatively simple genetic algorithm into the integrated Artificial Intelligence process. It's function is to derive the best neural network architecture to go along with the usual neural network process of training and testing. Since it's a relatively simple genetic algorithm, its a pretty easy implementation and by lunchtime it is complete, running, and producing useable results. During lunch I watch Sunday's F1 race from Abu Dhabi and though it's mainly a tire conservation race, there are some good battles throughout the field. It's a good way to end the F1 season. Later, with football playing in the background, I clean up all of the warning messages that were being thrown by the integrated Artificial Intelligence process - whether related to the number of threads being used to using outdated functions that may disappear at any time. It's tedious to work through, but it's done. I can go to bed and read for an hour and then sleep.
