Another Consultation

Saturday is another slow day. I get out walking at 6:11 am and walk for seventy minutes - the farthest I've walked since the surgery. I have a little limp as I start the walk but it goes away by the thrity minute mark. After a shower I read the news and markets and watch qualifying for MotoGP/2/3 from Mugello, Italy. Afterwards I clean the kitchen floor and both bathroom floors as I tidy up after the surgery. In the afternoon I relax with some golf and then the ice hockey playoff game. Following the surgery I could tell that my mind was a bit clouded from the general anesthetic. But now I feel pretty clear and ready to tackle some problems.

I sleep an extra hour on Sunday morning after a productive Saturday. After reading the news I get out for a bicycle ride in the neighborhood - not ready to go to the river trail yet. I ride sixty minutes and believe that the next ride will be along the river trail down to the aquarium. After a shower I watch Saturday's MotoGP sprint race from Italy and then watch some golf. I like to watch the golf to see how creative the players get with shots when they run into difficulty behind trees, with no line, in deep rough, or etc. I get in the physical therapy exercises and it seems like they are both getting easier and helping my strength and flexibility. Late in the day I watch the Moto3 race from Mugello, Italy.

Monday and Tuesday are productive days. I get out for a 65 minute walk on Monday and a seventy minute bicycle ride down to the aquarium and back. I watch fun MotoGP and Moto2 races from Italy and trim the roses. On Monday I update a number of software packages on various machines. On both days I do my physical therapy exercises and I lift very light weights. And finally I watch the ice hockey playoff game on Tuesday evening.

Wednesday is four weeks since the surgery. I start the day with a long walk without the cane. I've been carrying the cane with me "just in case". But haven't needed it so its time to ditch it. Its a good sixty minute walk. After trimming the roses and a shower, I drive to the grocery store for heavy supplies. At home I read the news and markets, update some websites, and have the monthly Long Beach Human Trafficking Task Force zoom meeting. Later I do my physical therapy exercises and just have a slow day.

The pavement is wet on Thursday morning so I don't go cycling first thing. I read the news and the markets and take care of some paperwork. By 8:45am I'm getting out the door for a mountain bicycle ride. Today I go a little past the aquarium before turning for home - an extra five minutes of riding. At home I take pictures of the Yamaha YZF-R1 and pull out the stock exhaust pipe and stock rear fender (which were both replaced by aftermarket parts) so that I can list the bike for sale. Near 12:30 the physical therapist comes by and we run through the exercises and she says that she will have the primary PT clinician come by and discharge me from further sessions. And later I watch some of the US Open golf tournament from Los Angeles Country Club.

I start Friday with a 65 minute walk. At home I trim the roses and mow the lawn. I note some bushes that need triming and that gets put on my list for Monday. After a shower I watch FP2 for MotoGP from Germany. But a glitch of some sort prevents me from watching the Moto2 FP2. I relax with the golf before driving to Torrance to meet with the people who will give me radiation (to make sure that none of those sneaky cancer cells escaped from the surgically removed areas and into surrounding tissue). I drive back home and stop at the grocery store for supplies - today I buy different foods because I'm in a rut now as to what I've been eating. And later I watch the FP2 practice session for F1 from Montreal, Canada.
