On Tuesday I get out for a long walk, get cleaned up, and ride the motorcycle up to CSULA for two presentations. The first is related to an FPGA-based artificial intelligence project and is of interest to me. A couple people are surprised that I ask some intelligent questions and offer some good suggestions for the project (as they said that the entire presentation went way over their heads). My team does very well on their presentation! They are behind on the project, but they realize it and hopefully we can make some good progress in the next couple of months. I rush on home to grab lunch and work on the brain cooler. I run the device for thrity minutes with no hiccups and no leaks. I just have to find a better way to get the device fitted to the head and stay in contact. Late in the day I go meet up with Magda, Eren, and their 8 month old Julian again and we have a great conversation until I need to get home. There are some drops of rain and the pavement is slippery, but I take my time getting home on the motorcycle.

Wednesday morning brings rain at 6 am as I'm getting out of bed. I start working on some additional demographic work and take a break when the rain stops to walk and mail letters and go to the grocery store. Back at home before the real rain starts, I continue work on the demographics and then on the website (with generic tools that I'll be able to quickly use over and over in the future for various efforts). It's after noon before I eat something and have a heavy session with the weights though a couple of joints are sore. I still keep icing the shoulders though they don't hurt much except during bench presses. I continue to work on the web tools in the afternoon until I walk over to the police station for a community meeting.

On Thursday I hav very deep sleep until about 2:30 in the morning. From there I toss and turn and read a bit and then finally get out of bed at 4am to start my day. I make great progress on two websites and put together a one page summary of how we should approach an upcoming Los Angeles County effort to find problems to the homeless problem. And my approach specifically says "we can't just propose that we will do what we are already doing but need more money to do more of it" as I'm sure a lot of government-related people will propose. You can't solve this problem by just throwing money at it. Person M_Fl comes to visit and we have a nice two hour conversation and visit. Person M_Fl is awaiting the results of his nursing RM exam as well as some interviews.

I'm lazy on Friday and do not get out walking before the CSULA meetings. I ride on up to CSULA and participate in two presentations and I offer constructive suggestions for the two teams to move forward. And then I have the weekly meeting with my team and progress has stalled after their presentation so I push them forward by assigning action items and tasks for each team member though I know that I will be absent for a while. And I remind teh, "Every tem at thehir presentations said that they were behind schedule and would make it up at the six week winter break that CSULA has". I tell them that every team says that and that none of them ever accomplish much over the six week break. Afterwards I ride on home and mow the lawn and deep de-weed the roses in anticipation of a long absence. After a shower I ride down to the Rec Center in Long Beach for a 6th district city council candidates forum. What am I doing at a 6th district forum when I reside in the 8th district? Because it's a 6th district city council candidate that I am working with to provide demographics for. I meet the 6th district candidate's field representative, who I saw in a recent email announcement, and we have a nice conversation and I convince the 6th district candidate to share my work with the field representative in hopes of new ideas to pursue and back up with statistics.

I start Saturday by staying in bed a bit late but get out for a decent 60 kilometer road bicycle ride. I don't feel great during this ride and the Gatorade in my fluid bottle tastes horrible. What's going on here? After a shower I have a quick succession of errands to the ATM, the Home Depot (fail at not having my specialty light bulb that I will have to order online), returning books to the library (unread but on the list to read later), Target for travel supplies, and the grocery store for some supplies. At home I catch the mail delivery lady and tell her that I will fill out the "mailhold" form, but I giver her a verbal reminder to look for it. I take the battery out of the Yamaha YZF-R1 and put it on the charger prior to a long dormant period, fill out the US postal service "hold mail" form, check-in with my outbound flight, vacuum the bedroom carpet, and work a bit more on the CSULA vessel stability calculations. Finally near 2:30 pm I sit down for a late lunch and watch college football games. Why not? And later the day slips away but I have nothing on my agenda anyway.
