July 4th Weekend

Tuesday is a painfull day at work as I sit in a meeting all day - only getting a break to make my own short presentation and then to walk over and buy discount tickets to Sea World. After work I get in a heavy session with the weights for the pull muscle group and it seems easier today then the push muscle group did yesterday. After a shower and dinner I ride the bicycle over to the Expo event space for a meeting regarding redistricting our city council boundaries. A newly-elected councilman is is trying a power grab and we're plotting alternative maps to bring before the city council. This is a huge meeting with a standing room only turnout and much more than anyone expected. I hope we get this many people at the city council meeting next Tuesday. After the meeting I ride on home with a quick stop at the grocery store.

Wednesday is another day of sitting in meetings. I am bored but I contribute where I can. During the day a co-worker man who I barely know and a co-worker lady come to get me to drag me off to a different meeting. We all agree to walk hand-inphand down the hallway to meet one of the big finanical managers. We get some strange looks as the three of us walk hand-in-hand down the hallway and into the manager's office. But everyone knows that we are all trying to have some fun during difficult times. When I can take it no longer I go home and work the abdominals (with heavy weights) and then I get on my hands and knees and crawl around in the dirt cleaning up the rose beds. The cleaning goes quicker than I expected and I get all of the roses cleaned up for a while. A quick shower gets me to the evening where I can relax.

Because Thursday is the last day before a four day weekend, many people are distracted from their work efforts. But we do our best to accomplish some progress and then go home for the holiday. I leave work a bit early and get in a great, heavy session with the weights for various muscle groups. I can see some massively heavy workouts in my future! I do not go to a 7 pm meeting in an adjacent city council district becasue I am burnt out. Instead I take a quick shower, do some laundry, water the grass, and relax. I will send some re-districting notes to each city councilperson early next week. And later in the day I pack for the weekend trip with Person Ti_Ca.

On Friday I get out for an early morning aquarium ride with a little extension on it. During the ride I see my friend Dennis and so we stop and talk and he tells me of all of his recent back trouble. I had wondered why I had not seen him out riding lately. After a shower I pick up Person Ti_Ca and we head for stores in Bellflower, Carlsbad, and finally in San Diego. We do some shopping and actually find some reasonable deals (Buy one pair of shoes and get two pair free!) and some additional discounts. EVentually we head for a Marriott in San Diego and Person Ti_Ca goes swimming in the pool while I relax in the hotel room. Later Person Ti_Ca has dropped off to sleep before 10 pm and I have trouble falling asleep and staying asleep throughout the night.

Saturday starts a bit late but with qualifying (via the Internet) for the MotoGP and Moto2 races from Mugello, Italy. Eventually Person Ti_Ca and I get out the door of the hotel and meet up with Person T_SD at Sea World. At Sea World the three of us wander around and see all sorts of shows with whales and dolphins and miss out on rides to get wet (because the lines are so long). The day is pretty hot though not unbearable. But it is a holiday weekend and many people are in long lines. We do the best that we an to stay col and enjoy ourselves. When all of the lines are too long, the three of us head for home. We drop Person T_SD off at his home and then Person Ti_Ca and I head for home. Later I drop Person Ti_Ca off at his home and I head for reading and sleep.

I wake up on SUnday morning after 3 am and cannot sleep. I surf the Internet for a while and read a book and eventually drop back off to sleep. But I'm awake at 5:40 am and I might as well start my day. The day starts with the MotoGP race from Mugello, Italy with a decent race. After the race I go out for a semi-extended aquairum ride where I'm stuck in one gear and just have to pedal away until I fix the rapid-fire shifters. After the ride I mow, trim, and edge the lawn and then get a cool shower to relax. Near noon I meet up with Person S_SM for just a few minutes as I walk to the ATM and the hardware store near his workplace.

Monday starts with a 30 mile road bicycle ride along the ocean and with some other extensions. Even at 7:30 in the morning there are people near the ocean barbecuing and sitting out as they plan to spend the entire day at the beacj and see the fireworks at 9 pm. After a shower I go and do some shopping and find that both Target and Home Depot are empty. Remind me to shop on these days in the future. The majority of the day is spent relaxing, trying to stay cool, reading, watching offbeat television shows, and relaxing.

Tuesday is a productive all around. I review a number of documents at work and contribute some other positives throughout the day. When I get home I have a heavy session for the push muscle group, trim and water the roses, wipe down the Yamaha YZF-R1, and install a new smoke detector before cooling off with a shower.

Wednesday is another productive day at work. And when I am finished I ride the Yamaha YZF-R1 to the dealer for a tuneup. As I leave the dealer I catch the Long beach bus and then I only wait a short time for the second bus to get me near home. On this night I have a heavy session for the pull muscle group and then I (hopefully) have fixed the rapid-fire shifters on the mountain bicycle. Another cool shower gets me to the evening.

Thursday is a bicycle commute day. The rapid-fire shifters on the mountain bicycle are still not right, but I do the best that I can. More work on the shifters for the weekend. The ride to work and from work goes smoothly with no close calls.

Friday starts with a number of chores around the house broken up with abdominal workouts. I do a set of lifts for the abdominals, clean the roses, do more abdominal lifts, mow the lawn, do more abdominal lifts, clean up the sideyard, and finally do another set of lifts for the abdominals. I grab a cool shower to get cleaned up and then I head for the bus stop to go pick up the Yamaha YZF-R1 from it's tuneup. The first bus arrives on time but then I wait for one hour for the second bus. After picking up the motorbike I ride on home, switch to the World Rally Car, and pick up Person Ti_Ca. We go have lunch and then stop at the library for more books and then to the grocery store for supplies. We're both tired so we get down for a nap and then really don't do much the rest of the night.

Saturday starts with a wet and dry qualifying for the British Grand Prix where my favorite driver barely misses out on the pole and will start Sunday's race on the front row. I get out for the extended aquarium bicycle ride and though it takes me some time to get the legs moving, once they get moving I crank along strongly and enjoy the ride. Today is a bit cooler but both Person Ti_Ca and I are a bit lazy and so we watch a movie and just relax. Late in the afternoon we walk over to the hot rod and car show that they have each year with Atlantic avenuce closed off. We wander amongst the older cars. Today I run into many people that I know from the neighborhood or community meetings and finally Person Ti_Ca keeps saying "You know a lot of people". Afterwards we walk back home, try to buy a gift for Person Ti_Ca's nience, and then I drop Person Ti_Ca off and return home.

Sunday starts with the extended aquarium ride. Today I start strong and lose a bit of energy and strength in the latter half of the ride but then finish strongly. The British Grand Prix is entertaining as it starts in the rain and then dries off - it's fun to watch when the driver switch to slick tires and see how hard is is to control the cars. I also watch an Indy car race from Toronto and then do a few small repairs around the house.

Monday is almsot productive at work. When I return home I don't even workout. But I do repair some small holes in some hallway ceilings, work on the roses, and prime the ceiling repairs. Though I have not wokred out today I have still been moving around and not just sitting around. I promise to do better on Tuesday.
