Jury Duty and Beyond

I plug away at work and try to make progress. There are new people coming on board as our contract is finally modifed to build a new weather satellite. After work each day I lift weights or go for long walks. The workouts with the weights are pretty good. Each night I do a lot of reading and it is almost time to go back to the library for more books.

Friday is a slow day at work. I try to make progress on things when people ask for help and I work down my list of tasks. After a reasonable time I head for home. When I get home I have a heavy session with the weights, mow the lawn, star the laundry, start baking some bread in a bread machine, and have a shower. I pick up Person Ti_Ca and we relax a bit before he goes to take a nap.

Saturday starts with the extended aquarium ride. Person Ti_Ca and I go have a japanese lunch, return and get new books from the library, and then head off to watch "Green Lantern". The movie isn't very good and I drift off to sleep a number of times during the movie. Person Ti_Ca is not happy that I've fallen asleep, but it happens. We go relax a bit at home until late on Saturday when I drop Person Ti_Ca off at his home. I barely make it back to the house and I'm dropping off for reading and sleep.

By noon on Sunday I've woken up from a deep state of unconsciousness, gone cycling for the extended aquarium ride during which I crank along strongly for the last quarter, washed the mountain bicycle, swept the hardwood floors, waxed the bicycle, and relaxed in the shower. I watch the Indy car race for a while. When I've gathered some more energy I trim and water the roses and then get down on my hands and knees and starting wiping down all of the hardwood floors. I get about a third of the way done before I call it quits (and agree to work the next two evenings to finish the rest of the floors). The weekend finishes with a call from Person J_VKPI and then some reading before sleep. Though I missed a couple weeks, I'm back on track to read a book a week for the summer.

Monday and Tuesday are productive days at work but blah workout days. Monday is spent working the abdominals and on Tuesday I just go walk for about an hour and call it quits. But on both nights I'm down on my hands and knees finishing the wiping down of all of the hardwood floors. They look fantastic!

Wednesday starts with a 5am teleconference (8am on the east coast). I make it to work by 5:30 am and the teleconference doesn't actually start for 10 minutes after that. I switch from the conference room to my office and participate from there. During the teleconference a co-worker comes into my office and is in tears over recent events. So I keep the phone on mute and talk with her, offer her a hug, and try to find positive steps to help her out of difficult circumstances. Everybody is under stress right now but it is no reason for other people to have abused her. Later in the day in a meeting a co-worker who I just recently met has become very friendly with me and has almost invited me (invitation expected soon) to a party he is having at his house in Long Beach only a few miles from where I live. He has only bought his house in the last few months and has a doggie too! Finally I leave work and jump on the mountain bicycle for a quick run around the aquarium. I crank strongly down to the aquarium and turn around and crank even stronger against a headwind back home. After a shower I fix a website and then trim the roses. And eventually head for reading and sleep to end this very long day that started at 4:44 am.

Thursday is a productive day. I work on some tools at work and then sit in meetings where I contribute in a positive manner. I've snuck a stuffed zebra and "good wishes" card to my co-worker who was in tears yesterday in order to cheer her up. She thanks me for the wishes and seems in a better mood. I really like her and hope that she comes to me for advice and as a friend. After I've contributed as much as I can and I am tired, I leave for the week. I get in a great heavy session with the weights with an extra set for good measure. And then I wash the motorbike and take a few things apart in order to get it really cleaned up for the summer. (The real cleaning will occur in the next couple of days.) Since I've had a difficult couple of days I end up being a vegetable on Thursday night.

Friday starts with disastrous qualifying for the MotoGP and Moto2 races at the "Cathedral of Speed" in Assen, Holland and for F1 in Valencia. To take out my frustrations I put a claybar to the Yamaha YZF-R1 and get about half way done before I go for the extended aquarium bicycle ride. Since there are no interruptions I continue with mowing the lawn and a quick shower. Person Ti_Ca and I have lunch and we take a little detour to the Honda delaer to look at the new 250cc fuel-injected road motorbike that gets 75 miles per gallon. When I get home I get down for a 90 minute nap. When I wake up and we make plans for a trip, now it is Person Ti_Ca's turn for a nap. While he naps I continue with the claybar on the YZF-R1. Person Ti_Ca goes off to have dinner with his sister while I read and go to sleep.

Saturday starts with qualifying for the Grand Prix of Valencia (in Spain) and my favorite driver gets the pole. I get out on the mountain bicycle for the aquarium ride and put in a couple extra miles because it feels good. When I return home Person Ti_Ca is feeling a sore throat so I recycle some electronics products and pick up some cough/sore throat medicine. I take some of the medicine also just in case I will be getting the illness from Person Ti_Ca. We both end up spending time in bed or on the couch and having a very slow day. Eventually I drop Person Ti_Ca off at home, do some quick grocery shopping, and go home to read and go to sleep.

Sunday starts with the extended aquarium bicycle ride. Though its the third ride in three days I feel extra strong and blast into the headwind on the way down to the aquarium and crank along nicely with the tailwind on the way home. After the ride I work on the roses and put a bit more wax on the motorbike before a nice arm shower. The F1 race from Valenica, Spain is a bit boring but my favorite driver wins again. I take the afternoon to relax, work on some lawnmower and equipment repairs, and to do some reading.

Monday is a boring day at work as I sit in a meeting all day and don't even get to present because the meeting is running so far behind schedule. After work I get in a heavy session with the weights for the push muscle group and struggle with it. After a shwoer I watch the Moto2 race from the Cathedral of Speed in the Netherlands where it starts off wet, dries out, and then starts to drizzle again towards the end of the race. My favorites do not fare well but it was a funr ace nonetheless.
