Real Springtime

Tuesday is a productive day at work, though stressful. It felt great to be back on the Yamaha YZF-R1 on the commute to work and it gets the day started on the right foot. The last four days off from work and out cycling have made me ready for retirement. I just need to make it happen in a few more years. When I've reached my productive capacity at work I head for home and get in a good session with the weights. This is the first time I've lifted in nine days and it feels good to be back at it. (I missed all of last week due to the trip to Washington, DC and the weekend due to cycling.) Afterwards I work on some web programming and watch ice hockey playoff games.

Wednesday is a horrible day all around. I'm stuck in a meeting where we are reviewing a document line by line. If I was not able to doze off and take a nap, then it would have been a watse of time. I rush on home and have an okay workout with the weights. Person Ti_Ca is at my house and taking a nap, so I let him sleep while I workout. Afterwards we have a bit os a miscommunication or just mis-connection. Later a friedn picks him up for dinner because I'm having a bad day. I sit and watch some of the ice hockey playoffs and my Detroit Red Wings lose again. Finally Vendi contacts me and has an argument with me. (Vendy is a common friend of Person Ti_Ca and me who lives in Buffalo, NY.) When I go to bed for reading and sleep the day is over.

On Thursday I record the highest morning blood pressure ever. This is not good. At work I sit through another day of line by line document review. I try to get up and move around and entertain myself but I just have to stick with it (as everyone else has to). After work I don't even work out and just walk to the store for supplies and then I try to relax.

Friday is semi-productive. After the tedious line by line meetings of the previous days I try to work through my task list. After work I get in a heavier session with the weights and then mow the lawn. Person Ti_Ca has come over, so he works on roses as I mow the lawn. After a shower we keep swotching our minds about Friday's plan of action and so we end up returning some sport shoes for a store credit and then Person Ti_Ca meets up with his cousin to buy Mothers day presents. Later Person Ti_Ca comes back over but I am tired so I go read and go to sleep. But at 2 am on Saturday morning I wake up and cannot sleep so I get up and surf the Inernet for a while Finally at 3:15 am I go back and try for more sleep.

Saturday starts with qualifying for the Grand Prix of Turkey with my favorite driver again getting the pole - this is 5 poles in a row (counting the last race of last season). I get out for the extended aquarium bicycle ride in the chilly conditions and enjoy it - as always. After a shower Person Ti_Ca and I go to pick up the road bicycle from its repair and then we go on home. Person Ti_Ca wants to go for a motorbike ride so we start out riding and then he wants to see where I work. So we park on the Northrop Grumman campus and walk around to a number of buildings and look at plastic satellite mockups through the windows of various buildings. And then we go hang out in Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach for a while. In Hermosa Beach there is a car show of some sort and we see three Deloreans parked that we look at. We head for home so that Person Ti_Ca can grab a shower and we just barely make it to the theatre to see the movie "Thor". I've told Person Ti_Ca ahead of time that I will fall asleep during the movie and I do. When I wake up I try to watch the movie but there is a lady (and secondarily a man with her) who are noisy and who insist on commenting on everything that happens in the movie. I turn around a couple of times and give them a mean look, but they (possibly) take notice for a few minutes and then they are back to the running commentary. If I cared about the mvoie I would go get the manager, but I drop off for another nap and just try not to care. Afterwards we eat Japanese food and then I drop Person Ti_Ca off at home for the weekend.

Sunday starts with the Grand Prix of Turkey where my favorite driver gets a good start from the pole and never looks threatened throughout the race. There are some good battles throughout the remainder of the field and it is enjoyable to watch. I take the road bicycle out for its inaugural ride (after the repair and maintenance) and it runs well as I go up to the Whitter Narrows dam and turn around and come home. The ride is smooth and it allows me to battle the morning winds for a great ride. I have a low key Sunday afternoon and evening with some reading, watching the ice hockey playoffs, and working on websites.

Monday and Tuesday are hectic days at work even if frustrating. After work each night I get in good workouts (abdominals on Monday and overall body on Tuesday) and trim some tree branches on Tuesday after the workout. There is a presentation coming up on Friday at CSULB, so we are working on the website and debugging it for the meeting. Everybody's nerves are frayed. I have three frustrations now: one at work, one with the website, and one with the abnormal kidney tests. I'm not sure which one is most upsetting now.

On Wednesday and Thursday there are unproductive meetings. Thursday afternoon's meeting should last 15 minutes at the most but stretches towards one hour when one participant keeps talking and talking and talking. At the 65 minute mark I just get up and leave because I cannot take any more unproductive meetings. I ride on home and get in a good workout with the weights and clean up the motorbike a bit. And then I watch the game 7 of the ice hockey playoffs and my favored team loses.

Friday is a long day! It starts with Internet qualifying for the MotoGP and Moto2 races in France. I get out early for the extended aquarium ride and now have adjusted the seat again so that it is perfect. After the ride I mow the lawn and pick up some tree branches. A relaxing shower and "brunch" get me ready to continue the day. Since I've failed my last two blood tests, I head for the medical clinic for a third blood draw in a month. The technicaian who took my blood the first two times is there though he doesn't draw my blood this time. But I tell him he drew the bad blood instead of the good blood. After the blood draw I go to CSULB for a 2-4 meeting about social work and technology. The meeting gets started on the wrong foot and control of the agenda is lost. Afterwards most of our team agrees that we weren't ready for letting the meeting get out of hand. I ride on home and have a quick dinner. I'm losing energy quickly.

Saturday starts with a disappointing MotoGP and Moto2 qualifying session (via the Internet) from Le Mans, France. I get out for the extended aquarium ride and run into a lot of bicycle traffic doing the Tour of Long Beach which is associated with the Long Beach BikeFest. I stop in at the BikeFest but I'm a bit disappoitned because there are not many vendors and the ones present are highly specialized. So I only stay for 10 minutes and then head for home. Afer a shower I grab lunch and Person Ti_Ca and I read together and work on homework. Later we relax with a movie before I drop Person Ti_ca off at his home so that he can attend the graduation of a friend. On Saturday night I have the ice hockey playoff game on the television in the background as I talk on the phone and relax.

Sunday starts with morning rain - at times a drizzle and at times moderately heavy. I try to call friends in Thailand but nobody answers the phones. THe MotoGP race from Frnace is exciting and my favorite rider gets a lucky third place due to attrition and penalties. Though the rain has cleared up, it looks like it will be pretty windy, so I get in a heavy session with the weights and then I start cleaning the isnide of each and every window in the house and garage. The view is better but now I need to get the outside cleaned (once the rain has stopped). A warm shower leads me towards noon.

Monday is a productive day at work. When I rush on home Person Ti_Ca is waiting for me. So I take him into the garage and make him do an abdominal workout with me. Afterwards I show him some lifts that he can do with light weights to get started. The minute we walk back in the house Person Ti_Ca drops off to sleep. I work on some errands and then give Person Ti_Ca a ride back home near 9 pm when he wakes up from his nap.
