Into March

Tuesday is a productive day at work. I put together models, find errors that were causing questioning looks all around, and run simulations. I also script a few tasks for my boss and await his feedback. I leave work a shade early and get in a good workout for the abdominals and lower back. I then trim a small bush at the side of the house and then go inside where it is warm - today has been a cold day all day.

Wednesday is semi-productive at work as I get ready for a job coming in. But it isn't quite in yet, so I try to anticipate the data and scripts that I need to make the job go quickly. After work I get in a great workout with the weights where I even do some rowing exercises. Granted the rowing exercise weights are lower than they should be, but at least the ribs barely hurt during the lifts. Afterwards I relax and aim for early sleep.

Thursday is almost completely unproductive at work. When I get home I work the abdominals and lower back with heavier weights, grab a quick shower, and pick up Person Ti_Ca. We have dinner and hang out.

Friday is raining so I drive the world rally car to work for the second time this year. After an unproductive day at work I picl up Person Ti_Ca on the way home from work and we return some shoes to a store that Ti didn't want, do some grocery shopping, and cook dinner. Along the way I manage to get in a heavy session with the weights for the push muscle group. After dinner we watch some television and then we watch a downloaded version of Inception on Ti's laptop. Except we don't get all the way through it before falling asleep.

Saturday starts wet and is very cold. I get up and do errands around the house and eventually Person Ti_Ca and I finish off watching Inception. Person Ti_Ca wants to go for a bicycle ride, so I pull out the extra bicycle, remove the clipless pedals, pump up the tires, lower the seat, and away we go. We go ride around the neighborhood and past Person T_U's house (who hasn't got back to me yet regarding joining us) and we ride along the Los Angeles river for a bit and near the Dominguez Wetlands. After the ride I lift weights with heavy weights for the pull muslces and we grab showers and head to a mall to buy Person Ti_Ca some running shoes since he wants to start running. We have Japanese food for dinner and when Person Ti_Ca starts dozing off late in the afternoon I take the chance to go outside and mow the lawn. Today was supposed to rain continuously all day and it ended up being dry, very cold, and very windy instead. Late in the evening I drop Person Ti_Ca off at home and I head for sleep fairly early.

I have incredibly deep sleep on Saturday night even if the temperature was supposed to drop down to 36 F in Long Beach. I took precautions and wore my old and attered Detroit Lions t-shirt to bed to make sure that I was not cold in the middle of the night. I wait until mid-morning when the bright sun is shining in order to start out for a road bicycle ride. The ride is fairly uneventfull except for a detour which adds a couple miles to the ride and some rear free wheel noise that I have to investigate. After a warm shower I deposit my US income tax refund check (The first US income tax refund in many years rather than having to pay additional taxes!), do some grocery shopping, and relax for the afternoon.

Monday is semi-productive at work, though I'm still on hold as a layout cannot be finalized and I cannot build the model or simulation of the system. When I get home I work the abdominals and lower back and then tear apart the rear wheel of the road bicycle. I don't really fiund anything seriously amiss. I polish out a few scuff marks with some steel wool and lube everything up with some good bicycle grease and ut it back together. We'll see on the next ride whether the noise is still present or not. On Monday night there are phone calls from Person C_T whose mother is possibly starting to lose lucidity, Person Ti_Ca who took his new running shoes out for a three hour walk, and a qucik call with Person T_U.

Tuesday is another semi-productive day as there are additional delays in the layout and the people that I am supposed to talk to are unavailable. When I ger home I lift heavy weights for the push muscles groups. as I did last Friday, except that today it knocks me on my butt. It's a difficult workout but I enjoy it. Afterwards I clean out the world rally car floormats and decice to re-adjust the road bicycle rear wheel hub to reduce some friction. It seems to have helped some, but I need to just go ride the road bicycle to seee if the noise is gone and the friction is less.

On Wednesday I wake up with a 1 degree fever and realize why Tuesday's lifts were such a struggle. I take two Aleve first thing in the morning and it turns out I feel pretty good throughout the day. Wednesday is almost productive at work but I'm bored. I finally eave work, get in a heavy workout for the back and biceps (and still skip the rowing exercises since they tend to hurt the ribs still), grab a shower, and go visit with Person Ti_Ca. We run some errands and have a quick dinner and then just walk around a bit. It s a short visit but we both enjoy it and makeplans for the weekend.

THursday is unproductive at work after a semi-wet motorbiek ride to work from overnight rains. When I get home I lift heavy for the abdominals and lower back and that concludes the week! I look forward to a three day weekend of bicycle riding, trimming bushes, visiting with Person Ti_Ca, and going clubbing with Person T_U.

Friday is a busy day! I get up and go for the road loop bicycle ride early since there are many other activities to be done. There are no noises from the cleaned/lubricated rear hub during the entire ride and it's a good ride. After a shower I go get the results of a blood test, buy some storage shelves for the kitchen closet, and stop in at the library to pick up two books. I also ask for an inter-library transfer of a book that just came out about the CIA"s effort to stop nucelar trafficking. SInce it is a 2011 release, I expect a callback from the library in a week or two about it being available. When I get home I start assembling the shelves. In the middle of the assembly I call Person Ti_Ca and then go pick him up. When we get home we both put on old clothes and continue the assembly of the shelves. I wanted him present for some of the assembly so that he could learn how to use some of the tools and how to assemble and square up the shelves. I even let him make some practice cuts with a powered circular saw (that scares the heck out of me whenever I ave to use it). We get the base assembled and squared up and bolted to the wall and then we stop (because we need to find the right microwave that will fit in the available space). Since we have old clothes on, Person Ti_Ca wants to go run/walk for exercise and then stop in at Subway for food. This plan works well except that we notice now, as it is getting late in the afternoon, that today is a First Friday. So while we're at subway I call Person T_U and tell him about First Friday andwe agree to meet up later. This Person Ti_Ca and I have to walk back home take a shower, ad change into warmer clothes for the evening events along Atlantic avenue. We walk back to the party area and are greeted by the many walkers, street performers, and bands contributing to the party. And since it is near ardi Gras, there's a Mardi Gras band passing out beads and masks for everyone to wear. Person T_U eventually joins us and we walk along Atlantic avenue checking out the shops and entertainment for an hour until I am so beat from the activities that I need to go home and go to sleep.

I'm dead to the world on Friday night but still awake near 6:30 am. I go check out Moto2 testing times and other news around the world until Person Ti_Ca wakes up. We hang out for a while and have food and then go try to look at microwave ovens. Except none of the stores have the ones that I want to see in person before purchasing. During the shopping I receive a phone call indicating my inter-library book is ready for me to pick (in less than 24 hours!). So on the way back home Person Ti_Ca and I stop in at the library to pick up the book and to get Person Ti_Ca a library card. He uses it this first day to get "Fahrenheit 451" along with another more modern book. When we get home Person Ti_Ca put on the running clothes and gor a 50 minute walk/run around the park and in the neigborhood. So I've run/walked two days in a row and not felt any of the Achilles tendon pain that has hampered me since last May. After a shower Person Ti_Ca have a long talk about where we are headed and the conversation continues in the drive back to Person Ti_Ca'a house as well as in the car at his house. ANd then I head for home. I'm supposed to go out clubbing with Person T_U but there is no way that I have the energy to go. So we have a phone conversation and then I head for bed to start reading the CIA nuclear trafficking book and drop off to sleep.

As expected I have vivid dreams and deep sleep on Saturday night. But still wake up at 5:40 am before the alarm is going to go off. I get up and have breakfast and read the news before the morning warms up enough for a bicycle ride. During Sunday's extended aquarium ride I run into Dennis and Debbie (I've always forgotten Denni's wife's name and told her 'I knew it started with a D but couldn't quite remember it'). Dennis and Debbie have flatted on their tandem and I stop and help them change the tube, give them a blast of CO2, and get the wheel remmounted. They want to offer me money but I'm having none of it: "We're all helping each other out" They continue their ride and I eventually head for home and run into George (a former neighbor) and we'lll give out the usual yell at each other as we always seem to be going in opposite directions. After the bicycle ride I trim the front bushes and do come good cleanup work around the Juniper bushes in front and the carnations in the back. Now I'm tired! So I have a warm soapy shower and relax. After the long weekened of many many activities there are may body parts that hurt and I'm glad that I did not got out lcubbing with Person T_U. And sine I've seen Dennis and Debbie with a tire problem, I pre-emtively change the rear mountain nicycle tire which has become long in the tooth with a brand new tire.

Monday is a productive day at work as I answer a number of questions from people and solve some of thier difficulties. I don't make progress on my own tasks, but at least I felt that I've contributed by helping other out. After work I get in a heavy weights session for the puch muscle group and then, eventually, have a long phone call with Person Ti_Ca about short term future plans.
