Wet October

On Tuesday morning I'm headed for Santa Barbara for another meeting. I'm tired and I find myself weaving along the road as I have a hard time staying awake. When my eyes pop open suddenly and I'm headed right for the guardrail, I know it is time to stop in at a Burger King and get a tub of caffeine the size of the Hoover Dam. The meeting, scheduled to go from 1:30 until 3:30, drags on until 6:30. And now I'm headed back for home in a huge downpour that lasts from Santa Barbara to Van Nuys. Surprisingly there are no accidents and traffic flows along nicely.

On Wednesday I start feeling under the weather but I get in a reasonable session with the weights. And progressivley feel worse and worse. Ruby calls and says that she and I need to conference call with some people from Sacramento regarding ResourceScout, so soon she's at my house and we are deciding when we'll fly to Sacramento to meet people. And hopefully I'll drop in our our state governor, Arnold, when I'm in the state capitol.

On Thursday I wake up, shut off the alarm, and head back to sleep. I ake up at 9:30 am with a 1 degree fever and call in sick for the day. And spend the rest of the lying on the couch, standing in the warm sun outside, and occassionally working on the computer (on files that I've brought home from work).

As Friday moves along I feel better and better. After work I lift weights and have the heaviest session in about a year. Person C_T comes over near 7pm and we relax as I try to fight off the sickness.

On Saturday I get out for a morning walk, do errands around the house, do the laundry, get out for the Aquarium bicycle ride, and then relax for the rest of the day. At 6:30 pm I'm dressed in a suit and tie to drive to downtown Los Angeles to meet Person C_T to see the opera, "Carmen". We have seats way up in the nosebleed section, but the performance is good and I enjoy it. I do drop off to sleep for a few minutes during the third act when the night is getting late and the temperature in the Music Center is high, but the performance was enjoyable. Afterwards Person C_T and I walk around downtown Los Angeles just a bit to let traffic die down before we head to Long Beach.

On Sunday I get out for a morning walk, read the newspaper, watch the Brazilian Grand Prix, have lunch with Person C_T, and do some Northrop Grumman work that needs to get done. Late in the afternoon I get out for a windy aquarium ride and start winding down for the Monday at Northrop Grumman.
