November Continues

Monday is a productive day at Northrop Grumman. But it is followed by a meeting with Person T* at 6pm. After not speaking to me for two months (between June and August), Person T* wants to talk about things again. We have a good discussion but when I tell Person T* that I am committed to somebody else now...well...it isn't pretty.

On Tuesday near noon Person T* comes into my office and we have another less emotional discussion. Person T* accepts the situation.

The ResourceScout meeting is held where we put the final touches on our proposal to Los Angeles County. We expect to hear back shortly due to their enthusiasm to get started. And we have a phone call from another agency indicating that our proposal is being forwarded to appropriate people for serious consideration. These are exciting times! But I tell my ResourceScout colleagues, "We need to move ahead with our outreach/sales campaign to the adoptions agencies in the other counties in California. We can't sit back and wait. And we need to be ready to go when a few of the counties send money". These are very exciting times indeed!

On Tuesday night there's a little bit of a mixup with Person N_V. As background, when Person N_V showed me his driver's license I noted that the birthdate had just passed. So I bought him a birthday present and card with a belated wish. Person N_V gets the present and card and calls me to thank me and then says, "I'm a Gemini. My birthday was in June." And this spurs the discussion about June vs. October birthdays and we have a good laugh. I am so confused about the lack of consistency in reporting birthdays!

I ride the motorcycle to work on Wednesday even if there is a chance of rain. I'm in an all day meeting when a few people come in absolutely soaked from a sudden cloudburst downpour. But I am still dry. I leave the meeting a bit early because I am not needed anymore and because I'm bored. As I'm riding home I can see black clouds and lightning in the distance...um...directly over Long Beach! I keep getting closer and closer as I wonder if I'm at greater risk of being struck by lightning being on a motorcycle rather than in a car. As I get close to home it seems like it is midnight because the clouds are so black. But I make it home dry. Twenty minutes later, as I'm lifting weights, the rain starts.

Person N_V comes over for a short visit and we have good conversation. We're both so into the discussion that I forget to offer Person N_V something to eat or drink during the entire visit and he forgets to give me the book that he specifically came over to give me. Oh well!

The Friday through Sunday period is a blur of activity of cycling and clubbing and ice hockey and helping Person N_V move. Person J_VKPI, Person N_V, Huy and I go clubbing on Friday night at the "herd clone mentality" club that I swore off 6 months ago. I am not impressed, but I make the best of the situation. Person N_V and I are almost inseparable as we move his things and I stay in K-Town on both Friday night (after clubbing) and Saturday night after dinner.

The late night Sunday ice hockey game happens after I've packed my things for the business trip to Phoenix. The game is a good one but our team is a bit flat and we lose 5-2. A couple of stupid decisions/moves is all it takes for the game to go from being close (down 3-2 in the third period) to the final score.
