Japan, Day 14

It's time to head for home. I catch a short train to between Osaka and shin_osaka before jumping on another bullet train for Tokyo.

For my last day in Tokyo I shop for souvenirs, hang out at the special electronics shopping area in Akihara, rest in the hotel, and head out for a night in the Shinjuku district. I wander aimlessly at night, looking at the flashing lights and giant LCD displays, smile at lots of people, and avoid offers being made. I'm returning to my hotel near midnight.

During the afternoon/evening rest in my hotel there is another baseball game on. I see two consecutive strange "bounces" that I've rarely seen before. On the first play the batter tries adrag bunt down the 3rd baseline. Seeing that the 3rd baseman is playing deep, he lets the ball roll in hopes that it will go foul. The ball eventually comes to a stop dead nuts on the 3rd baseline! It's a fair ball and the batter has a nice infield hit. The following batter, on the very next pitch, hits a ground ball down the 1st baseline. Before the ball gets to the first baseman, who is playing behind the base, it hits the base and takes a crazy hop into the outfiled. Two consecutive strange plays! Truth is stranger than fiction.
