Japan, Day 6

On Sunday Kikumi, Toshi-san, and I go running in the park. There are quite a few runners, walkers, and cyclists as we do the 1 kilometer laps. It ends up being an approximately 4.5 mile run.

A different friend, Takashi-san, takes us to the Toyota museums where we see the history of the company and a number of critical Toyota and Japanese cars.

In the evening, with the rain upon us, we order pizza from Aoki's Pizza. Forty minutes later it arrives. And I want the delivery boy. I give him a tip and he doesn't know what to do with it (because tipping doesn't exist in Japan). Kikumi has to try and explain the tip to him and he tries to give it back, but I insist. He doesn't quite understand when I ask him for his phone number but I get a huge smile from him and that will have to do.

Later we're flipping through the TV channels and I make Karl stop when I see a Japanese broadcast of the British Grand Prix for motorcycles. I explain a few things and Ike starts repeating, "Jacque fell" and "powerslide" when Olivier Jacque falls and when Valentino Rossi does a lurid powerslide on corner exit. Not until the race is over do I think about Dajiro Kato.
