Japan, Day 3

We spend much of the drizzly day exploring the Uena district and visitng a Buddhist temple. Later we rush to make a number of train connections to leave Tokyo. (One we barely make with the doors closing 3 seconds with Karl carrying Ike sprinting the last 100 meters.)

Finally we head for a hot springs resort via train. But we find out on the way that the recent rain has washed debris on the tracks and we stop halfway to our destination at Izukogen. We decide to find a place to stay - which turns out to be a hot springs resort also. After dinner we enjoy the hot baths and saunas at the resort.

For the second night in a row sleep is so deep that a nuclear explosion in the room wouldn't wake me.
