The Memorial Day weekend starts on Friday afternoon with the laundry and a good 5 mile run. Later in the evening I do some database programming for resourcescout and call it an early night.
Saturday morning sees a good, but wet, Aquarium bicycle ride followed by a visit with Person T*. We watch a video and talk about home improvement projects and stuff. I leave in time to get in a good session with the weights (the last in the lastest 4 week HST cycle) and then I relax prior to a night out.
Person J_VKPI does not show up after I have given him more than 20 minutes, so I take off on my own to a club in West Hollywood. During the evening I run into Person W (who is excited about his upcoming week vacation to New York), Person Roy's roommate Ralph, friend of a friend, Person T_F, and a few others. There is a good crowd tonight but it is a strange night - everyone decides that I am their "squeeze toy" and insist on squeezing/groping body parts. I just go with the flow - there is nothing else to be done. Late in the evening, when I am about to leave, I strike up a conversation with Person T_GG and Person C_V. And later telephone numbers are exchanged. As I'm walking back to the truck I pull out the mobile phone and see that I have missed 30 phone calls in the three hours that I was in the club. This is not a typo - there were 30 phone calls and a voice mail box that has become filled in the three hours. I concentrate on driving home rather than answering phone messages and I'm in bed at 2:35am on Sunday morning. I just wish that people in other countries realize that their business days do not correspond to my business days.
Sunday I get out for a long morning walk, watch some motorsports on television, read the newspaper, and get out for an hour of rollerblading. The rollerblading is good as I push the pace and work on my stride with very few other people out (as it is overcast). The motorcycle race from France is fun as "Both riders (Valentino Rossi and Sete Gibernau) were off the track on the kerbs as the lead swapped twice between the pair in the finals series of corners. The rain-interrupted race was run in very tricky conditions with the final corners and front straight virtually dry but the rest of the track requiring wet tyres."
At 10pm I am picking up Person J_VKPI to go clubbing. We get to the usual parking lot and it is closed. So we hunt for 10-15 minutes for public parking. When we get to the club there is a very long line, but we decide to stay. It takes us 30 minutes to get into the club. As we approach the door I realize that this is not going to be my night - the club is playing 80's music. I didn't like that music in the 80's - why would I like it now? Person Ray is present, Person W_C, Ralph, friend of a friend, and others are present. On this night, but not as severely as last night, people decide that I am again their personal squeeze toy as they put hands on me in various locations. Again I just go with the flow - there is nothing else to be done. And I wave off a number of pending offers with the "huge smile and big no head shake" technique that I am perfecting. At the end of the evening Person J_VKPI get into an argument. I know that I'm a bit disappointed with this day due to the parking snafu, the long line, and the crappy music and I get upset with Person J_VKPI and start yelling at him. The security people stand near us (I hope that it isn't the same ones from the times in January) and Person J_VKPI is shocked at my outburst. Finally I leave as Person J_VKPI gets a ride home from an acquaintance. (This alternate ride was not because of the argument or the source of the argument, it was just because he wanted to stay later than I did.) Nevertheless I am laying my head on the pillow for sleep at 3am on Monday morning.
On Monday I'm up at 8am to get out cycling around the aquarium again. The lunch with Person T_GG is postponed, so Person M_USC comes over and we go rollerblading for more than an hour. Later we take a nap together as I'm passing in and out of consciousness. Phone calls from Person SB and Person M_HDA are ignored or taken and delayed until further notice.
This weekend needs to end soon.
