A Long Weekend

I take Friday off to relax. Or maybe not relax. A good approximately 30 mile bicycle ride is followed by mowing the front and back yards. A quick call to Person T_V sets up lunch and I've taken a shower, stopped for gasoline for the motorcycle ($2.08 a gallon for premium!), and ridden out to Anaheim in well under an hour.

Person T_V and I have lunch at Denny's. It was his choice. But the location doesn't really matter. We talk about work and play and weddings and history and homeland countries and weekend plans. And we play footsie again under the table.

After lunch I relax a bit, do the laundry, lift weights, take another shower, and head over to Mom and Dad's to stay overnight with the kids (while Mom and Dad go play).

I arrive to watch the kids (ages ~16 and 13) at 7pm. We play the obligatory chess games with both kids losing quickly to me because they don't seem to be concentrating tonight. I see the eldest's video project for his Japanese class - a 15 minute video in Japanese with some interesting storylines and interesting scenes. And then we get to the main event - Risk. (Risk, by the way, is a multi-player strategy game where you try to conquer the world through strategy, luck, alliances, and attacks.) We start the game at 8pm with the rules having to be explained to me because I've never played before. We start the game and when I am ready to collapse in bed for sleep at 1:15am we are still playing. The game could go either way at this point. When I wake up near 8am both kids are already awake (Unheard of for the 16 year old!) and ready to continue the game. We continue for another hour or so before I have to leave and Mom returns - the game still going though my position is bad now because I decided to move all of my available troops into Iceland after a series of attacks in Europe.

I get out for a 20 mile bicycle ride before heading off to rollerblade with Person T*. Person T* is an absolute beginner and I have to hold her the entire way. Later we walk along the beach and talk about work and life and relationships and other stuff.

There is now only one thing to do late on this Saturday night - go to a club and find a party. I'm headed up towards West Hollywood to party when I'm interrupted by a phone call from Person T_V announcing his availability after 12:30am. Seeing that it is only 10pm, I turn around and go back towards Long Beach and spend a couple of hours at Fire Island before returning home to meet up with Person T_V. There are offers to be received at Fire Island but I keep moving around in the club in order to avoid the offers.

Person T_V and I get up very late. I watch a race on television, water and feed the roses (A picture will be taken andposted next weekend as a couple of the plants get ready to produce their first blooms!), brush Nopester, and take a fairly slow and casual 20 mile bicycle ride.

Later I'm looking at the ice hockey league's website when I notice that tonight's game doesn't show up even though it was on the written schedule passed out at midseason. I look back through the schedule and see that there are two games in the last two weeks that I've missed because they were not on the written schedule. Oh well. If the outcome of another team's game is favorable, then we'll be playing a playoff game on Wednesday.

I take Nopester for a walk and continue for a longer one without him. When I get back I return some telephone calls and take some Kava root extract for extra deep sleep. I need recovery after this weekend.
