Vacation Preps

Tuesday and Wednesday are blah and boring days at work. Though on Wednesday I wear a Los Angeles Kings jersey (with my name on the back because I played on a Kings team once before) and I get a lot of thumbs up and smiles as I walk around campus. After work on Tuesday I'm a vegetable enjoying a day of solitude. On Wednesday I leave work early and lubricate the motorcycle chain, get in a good high repetition workout, clean the and trim the roses, sweep the hardwood floors, and make some hotel reservations for the upcoming trip. After the productive period of time after work I watch the Kings playoff game. And see them lose in a close game, 2-1.

I start Friday with a good strong ride to the end of the ocean trail and some extra miles at the end. The legs felt good after 5 days off of cycling. After a shower I run errands at the bank and the grocery store and then jump on the motorcycle for downtown Los Angeles. I get to a swap meet and buy a number of t-shirts and hats that say Los Angeles or Claifornia on them to give to my friends on the upcoming trip. The lady at the t-shirt shop os very cute and I strike up a conversation with her. When I ask her where she is from we're both laughing because I thought that she was Thai and she says she gets that all of the time. It turns out she is Vietnamese. As I'm getting on the motorcycle to leave I run into a co-worker. What a small city Los Angeles, home to 15 million people, is. I meet his wife and two young sons as they show a brother around Los Angeles. And we joke around about the coincidence. And then I rush on home to relax.

Monday is a blah day at work. I'm thinking of my upcoming trip. I only appear to be productive because I'm invited to meetings that I am somewhat involved in but I attend and appear to be attentive. After work I get in another high repetition workout with the weights and make phone calls related to the upcoming trip and airline seats and meals, credit cards, and ATM cards (for use in strange countries). I watch a close Moto2 race, but, again, I don't have a horse in this race, so to speak.
