My Wednesday

A long day at work can only be compensated for by quality time on the ice. We win our game resoundingly as all of our teamwork comes together. One of our players gets hit by the puck in the side of the foot and has to limp off the ice. One of the other team's players, while trying to catch up and stop a breakaway, crashes awkwardly into the boards and stays down. He is helped off the ice. After firemen arrive and decide that they cannot do anything for him, the paramedics arrive and take him away to the hospital on a stretcher.

After I make my required two 7-Up minimum, I wish everyone goodbye and head for home. But I don't quite make it home. The truck decides to take me to the Broadway Bar in downtown Long Beach. A friend, who cuts my hair, holds Cut-A-Thons in this bar every once in a while where he cuts peoples' hair and donates the proceeds to a charity. There is some charitable activity again going on tonight though my friend is not here. The bouncer takes my $5 entrance fee and asks, "Red, blue, or green?" as he holds up the three colors of bandanas.

"Well, you wear a red if you're a top, a blue if you're a bottom, and a green if you're versatile. So people know what you are looking for."

"My name is Ray."

I manage to get back to my 7-Up with only a few smiles, handshakes, and embraces of thanks (I think!) for my generous gesture. I nurse my 7-Up for 20 minutes and, seeing that my friend does not show up, I decide to call it an evening at 1:30am.
