The Big Meeting

Have you ever wondered what the people in a meeting are REALLY thinking about. Here it is!

The leader of the meeting is really into it. As is expected. His thoughts are intensely on the proposed schedule, the hardware delivery dates, the exact sequence of tests, the potential pitfalls for each test, the desire of the customer to winess testing, and the costs associated with the tests.

Meanwhile, Person B, is wondering if he did that last stress analysis correctly. I know I have the right loads and the right cross sections, but I'm not sure of the knockdown factors for the material and the stress concentraion factors around the hole. This reminds me of the time that we were working on that bridge for the army that was supposed to help in the transport of tanks across rivers. It was a small bridge that the troops could construct within a couple hours and get the tanks into battle. "Damn, those were good times!" We used blast across the terrain, set up the bridge, get across the river, and blow the bridge up (so that the enemy couldn't follow us across). I wonder what ever happened to Johnny? He used to love driving that tank and pretending that he was going to just miss the bridge and go directly into the river. He was always playing practical jokes. Oops, the leader of the meeting is asking me a question. "Can you repeat that? I'm not sure what you're asking."

Person D is looking at the fashion and hairstyles of the people in the meeting. "Why does she brush her hair over to the side like that?" She would look really nice with more of a bowl-shaped hairstyle. But she has a nice halter top on. Just the right shade of navy blue. Now Person X, well, Person X has it all wrong. Light beige pants and a vertically-striped GOLF shirt. And a hairstyle that hasn't changed since he was 13. Probably saw the hairstyle on President Washington or Harding, liked it, and has stuck with it. And he's still driving that beat up old Chevy Nova. When did that come along? 1860?

Person F is wondering if he should tell his therapist that he has started to fantasize that he is President Bill Clinton. (I think that we should move on to the next person right here!)

And you can imagine what the other people are thinking of during this all important meeting.
